{"id":2213,"date":"2025-06-18T14:20:17","date_gmt":"2025-06-18T12:20:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.stockagecarburant.com\/?post_type=cas-client&#038;p=2213"},"modified":"2025-06-18T16:58:47","modified_gmt":"2025-06-18T14:58:47","slug":"blocalps-supports-engie-in-romania-tailor-made-biongv-station-airport-environment","status":"publish","type":"cas-client","link":"https:\/\/www.stockagecarburant.com\/en\/case-study\/blocalps-supports-engie-in-romania-tailor-made-biongv-station-airport-environment\/","title":{"rendered":"Blocalps supports ENGIE in Romania for a tailor-made BioNGV station in an airport environment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As part of the European <strong>OLGA<\/strong> project (an EU-funded HORIZON 2020 project aimed at decarbonising airport activities), Lab Crigen, the ENGIE Group's research centre for green gases and energy transition, has launched an experiment in Romania aimed at<strong> fuelling a bus with BioGNV<\/strong> (renewable natural gas for vehicles).<\/p>\n<p>This fuel is produced locally from <strong>biomethane<\/strong> using innovative technology to purify the biogas from a wastewater treatment plant that processes effluent from Cluj airport (Romania). To implement this project, Blocalps, a specialist in modular <strong>gas stations<\/strong>, was asked to design a tailor-made <strong>BioNGV storage and distribution<\/strong> solution adapted to a complex technical context.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>A BioNGV station designed for low-flow production<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The main technical constraint of this project was the low biomethane production rate of the scrubber, which required the addition of a buffer storage to optimise the station's operating cycles. This specific context made it impossible to <strong>refuel<\/strong> the vehicle directly without technical adaptation.<\/p>\n<p>It was against this backdrop that ENGIE's Lab Crigen asked Blocalps to design, manufacture and test a <strong>containerised BioNGV station<\/strong> designed to operate with a raw biomethane source.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to its expertise in the <strong>integration of industrial processes<\/strong> in <strong>containers<\/strong> and in the manufacture of <strong>service stations<\/strong> for gaseous and liquid fuels, Blocalps has developed a modular system comprising two complementary units, based on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stockagecarburant.com\/en\/product\/evobloc\/\">EVOBLOC<\/a> model:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A compression module incorporating a BAUER compressor.<\/li>\n<li>A storage module comprising 7 x 80-litre cylinders, giving a total capacity of 560 litres of CNG at 300 bar, for rapid refuelling.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A 5,000-litre metal buffer tank, located upstream of the compressor, to optimise the operation of the compression system, ensuring a regular supply despite the low biomethane production rate.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2218\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stockagecarburant.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/station-biongv-blocalps-airport.jpg\" alt=\"Station Biongv Blocalps Airport\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.stockagecarburant.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/station-biongv-blocalps-airport.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/www.stockagecarburant.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/station-biongv-blocalps-airport-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.stockagecarburant.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/station-biongv-blocalps-airport-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>How can the safety of a BioNGV station in a sensitive environment be guaranteed ?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Blocalps has incorporated several essential safety features into its solution:<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2214 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stockagecarburant.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/biogas-storage-container-blocalps-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"Biogas Storage Container Blocalps\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.stockagecarburant.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/biogas-storage-container-blocalps-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.stockagecarburant.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/biogas-storage-container-blocalps-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.stockagecarburant.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/biogas-storage-container-blocalps.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A Soclema <strong>odorisation system<\/strong> to detect any leakage of biomethane (which is odourless by nature);<\/li>\n<li>A modular design that is <strong>fire-resistant<\/strong> and thermally insulated, thanks to the use of proven technical materials;<\/li>\n<li>Compliance with current <strong>European safety standards<\/strong> for fuel gas infrastructures.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This innovative project is enabling ENGIE's Crigen Lab, and more specifically the Biogas, Biomass &amp;
