Fuel storage and distribution solution for a port terminal<\/h2>\n

Euroports<\/span><\/span> Belgium is one of Europe\u2019s major port infrastructure<\/strong> operators. The group operates several inland port sites in Belgium<\/strong> and develops activities related to the loading, unloading, and transit of bulk, liquid, and containerized goods.<\/p>\n

As part of the construction of its new multimodal terminal in Engis, on the banks of the Meuse River, the group needed to set up a technical area capable of combining several functions essential to the site\u2019s daily operations: vehicle refueling, washing, and weighing.<\/p>\n

The available space had to be optimized as much as possible while maintaining smooth traffic flow for machinery, trucks, and handling equipment during on-site refueling operations. The client was also looking for a solution that could be installed quickly and safely.<\/p>\n

The EUROBOX solution developed by BLOCALPS<\/span><\/span> was therefore selected through our partner TELENARO<\/span><\/span>, a specialist in mobility energy management solutions.<\/p>\n

A practical logistical and operational challenge<\/h2>\n

At a multimodal terminal, traffic flows are constant. Vehicles must be able to move quickly, refuel without wasting time, and remain available for port operations. Refueling at public service stations<\/strong> was not an option due to time and distance constraints. Supplying fuel via storage tanks was also not considered the most efficient, practical, or aesthetically suitable solution for this new site.<\/p>\n

The project also required a fuel storage solution<\/strong> capable of integrating several fuels within a single service station, with automated management of access,<\/strong> refueling<\/strong>, and fuel consumption<\/strong> monitoring.<\/p>\n

Another key requirement was to minimize heavy civil engineering work. A conventional underground fuel station<\/strong> would have involved more constraints, longer lead times, and less long-term flexibility.<\/p>\n

Choosing an above-ground containerized fuel station dedicated to fuel storage and distribution proved to be the most suitable solution for this type of environment.<\/p>\n
