Euroports Belgium chooses the containerized fuel station EUROBOX for its new multimodal terminal
Fuel storage and distribution solution for a port terminal
Euroports Belgium is one of Europe’s major port infrastructure operators. The group operates several inland port sites in Belgium and develops activities related to the loading, unloading, and transit of bulk, liquid, and containerized goods.
As part of the construction of its new multimodal terminal in Engis, on the banks of the Meuse River, the group needed to set up a technical area capable of combining several functions essential to the site’s daily operations: vehicle refueling, washing, and weighing.
The available space had to be optimized as much as possible while maintaining smooth traffic flow for machinery, trucks, and handling equipment during on-site refueling operations. The client was also looking for a solution that could be installed quickly and safely.
The EUROBOX solution developed by BLOCALPS was therefore selected through our partner TELENARO, a specialist in mobility energy management solutions.
A practical logistical and operational challenge
At a multimodal terminal, traffic flows are constant. Vehicles must be able to move quickly, refuel without wasting time, and remain available for port operations. Refueling at public service stations was not an option due to time and distance constraints. Supplying fuel via storage tanks was also not considered the most efficient, practical, or aesthetically suitable solution for this new site.
The project also required a fuel storage solution capable of integrating several fuels within a single service station, with automated management of access, refueling, and fuel consumption monitoring.
Another key requirement was to minimize heavy civil engineering work. A conventional underground fuel station would have involved more constraints, longer lead times, and less long-term flexibility.
Choosing an above-ground containerized fuel station dedicated to fuel storage and distribution proved to be the most suitable solution for this type of environment.
The solution delivered by BLOCALPS and TELENARO: a tailor-made EUROBOX service station
It was EUROBOX by BLOCALPS that was selected for its custom containerized design and high-quality finish.
The EUROBOX fuel station built for Euroports enables multi-fluid refueling with the following features:
Station capacity: 25 m³ diesel, 3 m³ AdBlue
A fully enclosed integrated AdBlue dispensing cabin
A TELENAROmanagement system for badge-based identification and fuel consumption monitoring
Double-wall storage tank
Two 8-meter hose reels (diesel and AdBlue)
This container-based configuration makes it possible to centralize all refueling operations while minimizing the ground footprint.
Why did the EUROBOX solution stand out?
Turnkey solution: The client valued having a truly turnkey solution, quickly installed by TELENARO and easily connected to the management equipment required for the site.
Tailor-made: The fuel station designed and built for EUROPORTS provides storage and distribution for 25,000 liters of red diesel and 3,000 liters of AdBlue, with sizing and capacity adapted to the fleet’s operational needs. A dedicated AdBlue cabin is directly integrated into the container.
Transportable: The custom-made above-ground EUROBOX fuel station also offers long-term flexibility. The station can be upgraded, relocated, or modified much more easily than a traditional underground infrastructure.
Secure: The containerized station is equipped with a motorized roller shutter to secure access to fuel dispensing and fuel storage. Insulated panels have also been integrated into the structure.
Compliant with Belgian regulations
The client particularly appreciated:
the ease of use of the station,
the quality of the installation delivered,
the turnkey approach,
the speed of implementation,
the level of customization offered by the solution,
the fully integrated fuel management system.
A solution designed for industrial and port environments
For operators such as Euroports, operational requirements evolve quickly. Infrastructure must be more flexible, faster to deploy, and easier to maintain.
With the EUROBOX above-ground fuel station, BLOCALPSoffers a different approach to the traditional service station through a modular solution dedicated to fuel storage and distribution. The solution combines storage, dispensing, and management systems within one compact and modular unit.
This type of configuration is particularly well suited for logistics platforms, ports, construction bases, and industrial sites looking to optimize space while maintaining a high level of energy autonomy.
