Harnessing energy from methanization: METHADEC

Harnessing energy from methanization: METHADEC

Located in the Oise region, the Decarsin farm covers several hectares and is characterized by a diversified crop production.
In 2018, the owners created the company METHADEC, specializing in the production of renewable gaseous fuels in order to generate green, local energy.

The company operates and manages a methanization unit that transforms organic substrates through anaerobic digestion, producing a methane-rich biogas.
This biogas is currently purified and then injected into the natural gas distribution network (GRDF) in the form of biomethane.

Towards a new form of energy recovery through self-consumption

Looking to go further in the valorization of its gas, METHADEC is now considering dedicating part of it to self-consumption, particularly to supply a BioCNG station intended to refuel its fleet of vehicles and agricultural machinery.

Given the large agricultural area operated, the company is also seeking a mobile gas solution, enabling tractors to be supplied directly in the fields, without having to systematically return to the farm for refueling.

A project in the design phase

An initial pre-project phase made it possible to study the implementation of an above-ground BioCNG service station of the EVOBLOC type on the site. The design phase is currently underway and includes detailed 3D modeling of the installations.

The farm-based BioCNG station will allow:

  • compression of biomethane,
  • storage with a capacity of 12 cylinders of 180 liters,
  • distribution of BioCNG to vehicles,
  • integration of an odorization system ensuring operational safety and regulatory compliance.

With an output pressure from the methanizer of 10 bar, the installation includes two pressure regulators to reduce the pressure to 300 mbar at the inlet of the BAUER compressor.

The station will be equipped with two dispensing nozzles:

  • an NGV-1 nozzle for fast refueling of tractors at 200 bar,
  • a quick-fill connector intended to supply an ADR rack at nearly 300 bar.

A mobile solution for field refueling

To ensure the autonomy of agricultural machinery under real operating conditions, a rack from the METHAMOUV range has been specifically developed to meet the needs of METHADEC and the identified consumption levels. It complies with European ADR regulations governing the transport of dangerous goods by road.

This mobile gas solution developed by Blocalps is equipped with 8 cylinders of 180 liters and can be towed by agricultural equipment or vehicles to be positioned directly at the edge of fields. Through an onboard filling line, tractors can connect to the rack and refuel directly on-site.

A significant gain in time and autonomy for operators!
