World leader in the design, manufacturing, and distribution of agricultural equipment, AGCO assembles agricultural vehicles on its production lines. One section of this assembly line is dedicated to filling various fluids: coolants, windshield washer fluid, engine oils, GNR (Non-Road Diesel), AdBlue, etc. This supply is managed through an overhead piping system in the factory, connected to internally stored tanks.
Specifically concerning the AdBlue additive, it requires specific storage conditions to maintain its performance and prevent environmental contamination. It must be stored away from direct sunlight, in a closed, temperature-controlled room between -6°C and 25°C. Therefore, the company is required to store its AdBlue inside the building. Moreover, due to the company's high consumption and the use of 1,000L IBC containers, handling empty and full tanks occurs several times a day, creating challenges for the operators.
Today, the company is looking to save space in its workshops and optimize its AdBlue management.
To address this space constraint and ensure AdBlue performance, Blocalps offers an outdoor solution: an above-ground container designed to store and protect an AdBlue tank. This container storage shelter ensures the insulation and heating of a 40,000-liter tank. It is ventilated, equipped with an electronic gauge, and features a double stainless-steel pump system managed by an automated control unit.
As a safety feature, the double stainless-steel pump ensures continuous AdBlue distribution on the production line in case one pump fails. It also helps to reduce equipment wear.
The Blocalps tank is protected by an internal epoxy coating, preventing any risk of corrosion (AdBlue being a highly corrosive product).
Isolating the tank in an external EUROBOX module (with 40mm insulated panels) eliminates frequent handling (disconnecting/reconnecting IBCs, spills, cleaning, etc.) and prevents the contamination of AdBlue, which is highly vulnerable to foreign particles. As a true technical extension, this external solution frees up space in the workshop.
To address two additional constraints, our design office created a custom solution:
The installation of the equipped container was completed in 48 hours, with the connection carried out during a unit shutdown to avoid any production interruption.
It’s important to note the significant economic benefit of purchasing bulk AdBlue compared to IBC packaging, which reduces the payback period for the investment.
